SF City Hall Wedding Portraits

I had the pleasure of doing five year anniversary portraits with Tawny and Anthony! Tawny is a fantastic wedding planner in the area that I love working with as well! It was perfect to head back to where they said ‘I do’ to recreate their day for some SF City Hall wedding photos!

Anthony and Tawny got married before she was a wedding planner, and was ultimately slightly disappointed with her photos! For their five year anniversary to get new photos that they would LOVE!

Tawny re-printed a few copies of their original wedding invite so we could do a flatlay! She also brought some gorgeous fresh flowers! Combined with a few styling details from me, we made some magic!

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a flowing bouquet!

SF City Hall is SO gorgeous for portraits! It can get very busy at times with many wedding photographers working to get perfect angles!

SF city hall also has perfect lighting! The large sprawling windows at the top of the building filter gorgeous soft light down into the lower levels. This also makes some beautiful black and white photos!

I would be remiss to not mention the architecture at SF City Hall as well. Construction started in 1913 after an earthquake damaged the previous city hall. It was primarily designed by Arthur Brown Jr. Truly a beautiful piece of history that people are welcome to see and explore!

This was one of those photos that made me absolutely squeal as a photographer. I love the grainy black and white. I adore the rich contrast. I feel the movement of the elevator doors. I love how this photo is symmetrical and non-symmetrical all at the same time! I even love the dirt right around the buttons for the elevator. To me, it feels lived in and real.

The main rotunda is reminicent of the baroque Val-de-Grâce Cathedral on the outside, and the inside is just as stunning! I always have fun experimenting with angles and light.
